Customer
A robotics integrator focused on building automation cells at a national distribution facility.
Problem
The current shipping and packaging sortation process needed to be automated and streamlined instead of having employees handling large volumes of material.
Solution
Power Pack worked with a robotics integrator to design an automated system to properly sort packaging and junk mail.
System
A belt conveyor configuration was constructed to involve several angled conveyors that moved packages in a unique manner from one conveyor to another. The initial belt conveyor had an angled chute that caught the envelopes being sent from the system’s existing conveyor. As the envelopes moved through three zones of belt conveyors, sensors with photo eyes worked with the robots to properly transfer packages and record the total volume. This design fully met the requirements by being mounted and integrated onto an existing floor space.
